Rollins claims fourth for Pack in heptathlon

PUEBLO - ThunderWolves heptathlete, Jasmine Rollins (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), finished fourth in the heptathlon, just one scant point ahead of Fort Hays State's Whitney Taylor, securing five team points for the ThunderWolves going into Saturday's ThunderWolves Invitational.

Rollins compiled a collegiate personal best of 3,881 points in the heptathlon, just over 500 points away from a national-qualifying score.

She enjoyed her best performance of the heptathlon in the high jump Thursday with a leap of 1.55 meters, clearing 678 points for her in the event. She also was strong in the javelin, placing fifth.

Rollins had company in the heptathlon as Sherrea Elliott (Fr., Fountain, Colo.) also competed, finishing in 10th place in the 16-member field.  Elliott's top mark came in a fifth place finish in the shot put.

The heptathlon will serve as a kickoff for the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves Invitational, in which nearly 1,000 athletes will compete starting tomorrow at 9 a.m.
