Pack opens track slate with strong performance
Wyatt opens with provisional qualifier.
USAFA, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 9, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo track team opened the indoor season Friday, starting the season on the right foot as returning All-American Danita Wyatt (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) qualified provisionally for nationals in the triple jump.
Wyatt turned in a 39-foot, 6-1/2 inch jump to finish second among the collegiate entrants in the chiefly Division I track meet. She also narrowly missed out on a provisionally-qualifying jump in the long jump, missing the mark by an inch with a jump of 18 feet, 1-1/2 inches, a personal best for her.
Wyatt also tried her hand at the 60-meter hurdles for the first time, turning in a time of 9.32 seconds, just 0.04 seconds off the CSU-Pueblo school record.
Also turning in strong performances were throwers Holli Salazar (Jr., Hayden, Colo.), setting a school record and personal best in the weight throw with a 48-foot, 10-3/4-inch toss.
