Salazar obliterates weight record at All-Comers meet

Thrower highlights Pack's day at Division I meet.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 14, 2012) - Pack thrower Holli Salazar (Jr., Hayden, Colo.) set personal bests and broke her own school record at the Air Force All Comers meet in Colorado Springs Friday.

Salazar tossed the weight 50 feet, 6-3/4 inches, setting a school record and besting her personal record by nearly two feet.  The throw was good enough for a fifth-place finish in the weight, her second fifth-place finish of the day.  She also finished fifth in the shot put.

Her weight throw was still two feet away from the national provisional qualifying throw, however.

Danita Wyatt (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) participated in four events, turning in a mark of 38 feet, 5-1/2 inches in the triple jump, which provisionally qualified her for nationals - a common occurrence for the senior from Aurora.  Along with her third-place finish in the triple jump, she also finished third in the long jump and ninth in the 60-meter hurdles.

Blair Gilkes (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) also participated in her first event of the season, finishing fifth in the 60-meter dash with a jaunt of 7.85 seconds.

CSU-Pueblo will head to the University of New Mexico next weekend for the Cherry & Silver Invitational.
