Lewis PRs in 800 at New Mexico Classic

Pack junior comes six seconds away from school record.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 4, 2012) - Pack junior Hayley Lewis (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) turned in a personal best in the 800-meter, headlining the ThunderWolves' day at the New Mexico Classic Saturday.

Lewis turned in time of 2:25.91 in the 800-meter, just six seconds seconds off the school record in the event held by former All-American, Dayna McDowell, back in 1992.

It was her lone entry of the meet as many of the ThunderWolves rested their muscles as the RMAC Championships approach in three weeks.

Also turning in a strong performance was jumper Danita Wyatt (Sr., Aurora, Colo.), who recorded a provisional-qualifying jump for nationals for the third time this season with a 37 foot, 10-1/2 inch leap in the triple jump.

CSU-Pueblo's next event is another Division I meet, this time at the Air Force Academy when they compete in the Air Force Invitational.
