Weekend track produces multiple records
Wyatt claims another automatic qual as Pack participates in meets in California, Colorado.
WALNUT, Calif. and GUNNISON, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - April 21, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo jumper Danita Wyatt (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) bested her week-old national qualifying school record at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif., the headliner of a crazy weekend of track across the country for the ThunderWolves.
Wyatt jumped 12.53m in the triple jump at Mt. Sac, 0.01m better than her automatic qualifier a week ago as the CSU-Pueblo Invitational. In a meet consisting almost exclusively of high level Division I athletes and elite amateurs, Wyatt finished a very impressive sixth out of 17 entrants, and third among collegiate entrants.
Wyatt's jump, which was also a school record, was one of three school records set this weekend.
Thursday, Krystel Martinez (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) set a record in a discus throw at the California Invitational, tossing the disc 43.03m.
Saturday, Lacy Harris (Fr., Cimarron, N.M.) established a new school record in the pole vault at the Western State College Open, turning in a 3.21m pole vault, finishing third in the event.
After a weekend in which the team was split, both will come together this weekend at Colorado State University when the squad travels to the Jack Christiansen Invitational in Fort Collins.
