A native of Gunnison, Colo., Jason Zichterman was added to the CSU-Pueblo track and field staff in 2011.

A former assistant at Chadron State, he coached CSC distance athletes to four school records, 16 personal bests, and five provisional national qualifiers.  Senior Joe Schultz competed at the national meet under Zichterman’s tutelage, earning a spot on the final. 

Zichterman, a graduate of Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif., was a five-time All-American for the Cougars and a member of 3 National Championship teams.  Prior to his stint at APU, Zichterman competed at the University of Colorado from 2003-2006, running the 800 meters in a time of 1:50.18.  He was also a member of CU’s 4x400m relay team that ran 3:08.86 at the NCAA Regional meet.

At Gunnison High School, Zichterman set two Colorado 3A state records in the 800 (1:52.75) and the 4x400m relay (3:22.24).  He was a six-time state champion for the Cowboys.

Zichterman earned his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Chadron State College in 2011.  He currently resides in Pueblo.
