Weekend soccer, volleyball games boast free admission

Volleyball tournament, free soccer games kick off season of competition

PUEBLO, Colo., (Aug. 27, 2008) - The first games of the 2008 athletic season for the Colorado State University-Pueblo volleyball and men's and women's soccer programs take place this weekend, starting with the CSU-Pueblo Fall Classic volleyball tournament on Friday at Massari Arena and a total of four soccer games throughout the weekend.  All games taking place at CSU-Pueblo this weekend are free for everyone.

The women's soccer season kicks off Friday evening at 5 p.m. when the ThunderWolves host Augustana (S.D.) College at the Rawlings Sports Complex, east of the CSU-Pueblo campus.  The men's season opens up Saturday at noon against Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.).  Both programs will play Sunday, with the women taking on Southwest Minnesota State at 11 a.m., followed by the men's game with Newman (Kan.) University at approximately 1 p.m.

Friday morning, the CSU-Pueblo Fall Classic opens its doors, featuring RMAC rival, UC-Colorado Springs, as well as Angelo State (Tex.), Dixie State (Utah), St. Edward's (Tex.), and Washburn (Kan.), which was ranked second in the nation in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason National Poll.

Friday, the ThunderWolves take on Angelo State at 3 p.m., and Dixie State at 7 p.m.  Saturday, the Pack opens with a 10 a.m. scuffle with Washburn, and finish their tourney with a 6 p.m. meeting with St. Edward's.  The tournament will run two games at a time on adjacent courts, beginning at 11 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
