Pack volleyball coach Jonson resigns head coaching post

Coach will serve out remainder of season, search for replacement will begin immediately.

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com – Oct. 18, 2010) – CSU-Pueblo head volleyball coach, Chris Jonson, will resign his position at the conclusion of the 2010 volleyball season, CSU-Pueblo Director of Athletics, Joe Folda, announced Monday.

Jonson, who was the 10th head volleyball coach in the 33-year history of the volleyball program, had a 26-77 career record with the ThunderWolves.  He has been the head of the program since 2007.

"I'm personally thankful of the opportunity I was given at CSU-Pueblo," Jonson said.  "But we failed to provide a championship-caliber program."

"I want to thank Chris for his service to the volleyball program and his dedication to our student-athletes," Folda said.  "We wish him the best of luck in the future."

Jonson will remain the head coach through the final seven games of the 2010 season, and into the playoffs if they qualify.  CSU-Pueblo, which is not yet mathematically eliminated from Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference playoff contention, currently has a 2-10 conference record with six games remaining, and are four games out of eighth place in the RMAC.

Folda said the search for Jonson's replacement will begin immediately.
