CSU-Pueblo claims first win over Grizzlies since 2006.
PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 28, 2010) - The CSU-Pueblo volleyball team captured its second straight win Thursday night, outlasting Adams State in five sets, 25-18, 25-16, 24-26, 18-25 and 15-12.
The ThunderWolves roared out to a huge lead, riding a quick start by outside hitter, Alea Wildman, who had eight kills in the first two sets alone. But the Pack made multiple errors at the net in the third and fourth set, letting Adams State back into the match.
In the deciding fifth set, CSU-Pueblo overcame two errors to start the set to build a 4-2 lead and inch toward the win. Sophomore Gina Abbott came through with three kills in the fifth set, leading the Pack to its first win over Adams State since 2006, busting the Grizzlies' seven-match winning streak over the ThunderWolves.
CSU-Pueblo will take the weekend off before returning to the court to close out its season next weekend when New Mexico Highlands and Western New Mexico come to town.
