Pack splits in first day at Dallas Baptist Classic

ThunderWolves suffer tough loss but rebound with dominant win over Texas A&M-Commerce.

DALLAS, Tex. ( - Sept. 9, 2011) - The bad: CSU-Pueblo lost in four sets to a team that won just four games last season.  But the good: the Pack got a chip on its shoulder and absolutely dominated in a three-set sweep of Texas A&M-Commerce during the opening day of the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Classic.

The Pack played three out of four sets in its opening match with East Central (Okla.) to tiebreak points, but couldn't come up with the win in either set.  But in each of those sets, the Pack couldn't break a tie to their advantage, coming up short in the final points.  The loss came in the face of another statistical win for the Pack, just like its first four matches, outhitting East Central .233 to .184, but losing 26-24, 19-25, 25-23 and 27-25.

But CSU-Pueblo made up for it all against Texas A&M-Commerce, rolling them up 25-13, 25-14, 25-13.  Bernadette Pitre (Sr., Clifton, Colo.) logged 12 kills and hit .579 while Sierra Moran (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) hit .429 with no attack errors to lead the Pack.

CSU-Pueblo will continue at the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Classic Saturday when it takes on West Alabama and tourney host Dallas Baptist.
