ThunderWolves roll over Chadron State

Pack middle blocker Angela McAdams celebrates after a kill.

CSU-Pueblo improves to 2-1 in conference play with dominant win.

PUEBLO, Colo. ( - Sept. 17, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo made quick work of Chadron State Saturday night, claiming its second win this season over the Eagles with a three sets to none sweep, 25-13, 25-22, 25-18.

The ThunderWolves bested the Eagles in every statistical category, outdigging Chadron nearly 2-to-1, 51-27, and out-killing the Eagles 49-29.  Though the Pack had some strings of lackluster play, especially in the second set when the ThunderWolves eked out a 25-22 win in a set it trailed for the most part, CSU-Pueblo seemingly scored at will as it dominated the first set, hitting .483, and marched out to an 18-9 lead in the third set before Chadron made a vanity threat while the Pack reserves were in the game.

CSU-Pueblo was led by a pair of 12-kill performances by Sierra Moran (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) and Janae Heiser (Sr., Westminster, Colo.). Setter Kacy Griffin (So., San Antonio, Tex.) turned in 40 assists and libero Ashley Michel (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) logged 18 digs.

With the 2-1 start to its conference season, CSU-Pueblo is off to its best start to its RMAC slate since 2005.  At 6-5, it also marks the first time since 2006 it had a winning record after its first 11 games.

CSU-Pueblo will remain at home next weekend when it hosts New Mexico Highlands Friday night before hosting Western New Mexico in a Saturday afternoon tussle at 2 p.m.
