ThunderWolves fall in return trip to playoffs

Pack season ends with third loss of season to Grizzlies.

ALAMOSA, Colo. ( - Nov. 8, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo, playing in its first postseason game since 2006, simply couldn't keep up with Adams State in their third meeting with the Grizzlies this season, falling in three sets in an RMAC Quarterfinal match Tuesday, 25-23, 25-20, 25-20.

The ThunderWolves end the season 15-13, its first winning season since 2006.

CSU-Pueblo played Adams State, which had previously defeated the Pack in four sets in each of its meetings this season, point for point in the first set, outhitting Adams State, in fact, .321 to .303.  But the final points decided it, with a powerful kill by Adams' Dominique Davis down the stretch diffusing the ThunderWolves' spirit and leading to a 25-23 first set win for the Grizzlies.

It was a lot of the same in the second set, with the Pack staying within two points the entire way until collapsing near the end as the match turned from 20-19 to a 25-20 Adams State win.

Facing quite the uphill battle to save the season, CSU-Pueblo couldn't catch up as Adams State edged ahead, 14-10 midway through the set and kept up that advantage throughout with another 25-20 win.

CSU-Pueblo was led by Bernadette Pitre (Sr., Clifton, Colo.) with 10 kills, followed by April Gonzales (Fr., Fowler, Colo.) and Alea Wildman (Sr., Denver, Colo.) with nine kills each.
