PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 11, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo nearly let one slip away Tuesday to nationally-ranked Division III power, Colorado College, pulling out a five-set win in the ThunderWolves' final non-conference matchup before the RMAC slate begins Friday.
The ThunderWolves were cruising through the Tigers, winning the first sets 25-17 and 25-13 before the Tigers turned it on.
Facing some of the Pack's reserves in the third set, Colorado College was able to take a 25-19 win. In the fourth set, with both squads' A-teams in, the Tigers rode the momentum to outlast the Pack 25-21.
Luckily for the ThunderWolves, they seized control back in the fifth and decisive set, jumping out to a 5-0 lead and riding the hot hand of reigning RMAC Offensive Player of the Week, Angela McAdams (Sr., Blinn, Texas), who converted kills on two of those first five points, part of her career-best 22 kills to just four errors, good enough for a .562 attack percentage. The Pack would go on to win the set and the match 15-10.
With the win, CSU-Pueblo is now 8-1, which is tied for the best start through nine matches in school history with the 1980 and 1987 squad. The Pack will now travel to the Western Slope of Colorado where it will tangle with Fort Lewis and Colorado Mesa this weekend.
