Pack drops match to Mesa in three

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 15, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo lost its second straight match in straight sets, falling 3-0 to Colorado Mesa.

The ThunderWolves played the Mavericks close, only losing 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, actually outplaying the Mavericks in most statistical categories.  The ThunderWolves came through with three solo blocks and 16 block assists compared to just a grand total of four block assists by Mesa, and overall, CSU-Pueblo out-hit Mesa .091 to .057.

But Mesa was nearly perfect on serves, committing just one service error compared to five by CSU-Pueblo.

The loss continues to put the Pack in a big hole in conference play, undoing an 8-1 non-conference start to the season with an 0-2 start to conference play.  The ThunderWolves will return home for three matches, starting with a non-conference tussle with South Dakota Mines Monday night before hosting Adams State and Western State next Friday and Saturday.
