PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 23, 2012) - It's been a while since CSU-Pueblo has tasted a sweep victory, and the Pack got it at a much-needed time Tuesday against New Mexico Highlands, winning in three 25-12, 25-15, 26-24.
CSU-Pueblo has been struggling of late, having lost eight of nine matches and not claiming a sweep win since it beat the Cowgirls in its first meeting this season on Sept. 25. Needing to go on a flurry to end the season if it has any hope to surge to a playoff spot, the Pack took a positive first step Tuesday.
The ThunderWolves were dominant in all phases of the game, hitting a robust .318 against the Cowgirls while holding their opponents to just .087. The Pack registered five blocks and scared the Cowgirls into committing 20 attack errors. On the flip side, Pack attacks flew wide just 10 times.
Angela McAdams (Sr., Blinn, Texas) led the ThunderWolves with 10 kills and a .381 attack percentage. Brianna Bryant (Jr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) and Morgan Wilkening (Fr., Fleming, Colo.) each chipped in nine kills apiece in the match.
As it sits 3-1/2 games out of the final playoff spot with five games remaining, CSU-Pueblo will try to build a win streak Friday when it hosts Western New Mexico during the Sixth Annual "Block Out Breast Cancer Awareness" game at Massari Arena.
