COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 5, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo fell in four sets to Colorado College, the 11th-ranked Division III team in the nation, 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23.
In a relatively even match, enough late points went the Tigers' direction to do the ThunderWolves in.
CSU-Pueblo trailed by as much as eight points in the first set before climbing back into the set, getting within 24-23 late. But time simply ran out on the ThunderWolves as CC held on, a recurring theme during the match.
In the second set, neither team opened up a lead larger than four points, but the ThunderWolves faded late. The set was tied at 22-22 as three straight points were converted by the Tigers, delivering a 25-22 win for CC.
Though CSU-Pueblo was dominant in claiming a third-set win, 25-17, the Pack suffered a frustrating loss in the fourth set after leading most of the way.
The ThunderWolves led 23-22 before CC convered three straight points to win the clincher 25-22.
To make the night even more frustrating, CSU-Pueblo out-hit the Tigers .218 to .210 and three ThunderWolves registered 10 kills or more, led by 14 kills from Morgan Wilkening (So., Fleming, Colo.).
CSU-Pueblo will return back to RMAC play Friday when it hosts Adams State and Western State to close its home slate.
