The Colorado State University-Pueblo volleyball squad was recently recognized for its outstanding achievements in the classroom during the 2013-14 academic year, garnering the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
The ThunderWolves were one of four current RMAC programs to earn the award, joining Chadron State College, Colorado Mesa University and the league's newest member South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
In total, 684 teams received the Team Academic Award for 2013-14, including 94 squads in NCAA Division II.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Pack head coach Jen Gomez and her squad open the 2014 season on Sept. 5 at the Midwestern State Tournament.
