DENVER, Colo. (September 25, 2014) ~ The Colorado State University-Pueblo volleyball team (7-6, 1-3 RMAC) opened up a three-match road swing Thursday, falling 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-12) to Regis University at Regis Fieldhouse.
The ThunderWolves drop their third match in a row to fall to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches. Regis improves to 8-4 on the year and 3-1 in league tilts.
For the match, the Pack held the advantage in blocks, 7-3. Regis outhit CSU-Pueblo, .320 to .120, while also tallying more kills, 45-28, assists, 41-28, and digs, 40-39.
Alex Sansavera (R-Jr., San Antonio, Texas) recorded her sixth double-double of the season, notching 11 assists and 10 digs to lead the Pack. Mariangel Perez (So., Catia La Mar, Venezuela) paced the visitors in kills with 10, while Oni Lattin (Jr., Houston, Texas) posted a match-high five kills.
For the Rangers, Gina Morgan and Maggie Steward both tallied 11 kills to lead both teams. Rebecca Sponcil registered all but one of Regis' 41 assists, while Maya Kirkeby recorded a contest-best 11 digs.
In set one, the ThunderWolves held an early 7-5 advantage thanks in part to a trio of kills from Perez. After a Regis timeout, the home team took control of the match, outscoring the Pack 20-10 the rest of the way to earn a 25-17 victory.
Mid way through the second set, CSU-Pueblo saw itself in the lead, 15-11. Once again, a timeout ignited a Rangers scoring run, as they closed the stanza on a 14-6 spurt to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
In the clinching set, Regis never trailed en route to a convincing 25-12 victory and a 3-0 sweep of the match.
The ThunderWolves return to the court tomorrow night versus Black Hills State University. The contest is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
