PUEBLO, Colo. (April 27, 2015) ~ Coming off its highest win total in 17 years, the Colorado State University-Pueblo volleyball team has its eyes set on the 2015 schedule, which was released today by head coach Jen Gomez. Eight matches against 2014 NCAA Tournament participants highlights the ThunderWolves' 2015 slate of contests.
The Pack concluded the 2014 season with a 17-12 overall record, including an 11-7 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record. The 17 victories are the most for CSU-Pueblo since the 1997 season, while the 11 league wins is their top mark dating back to 2004.
The Pack have 26 contests on their 2015 schedule, including 13 home matches and 13 away tilts. CSU-Pueblo will play 18 RMAC contests and eight matches in two tournaments.
The ThunderWolves open the season Sept. 4-5 at the Lady Buff Classic hosted by West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. CSU-Pueblo will face Eastern New Mexico in its season opener, before challenging 2014 NCAA Tournament participant and host West Texas later that same day. The Pack wrap up the tournament with matches against Heartland Conference opponents Lubbock Christian and Dallas Baptist.
CSU-Pueblo will serve as the co-host of the Steel & Silver Classic Sept. 11-12. The ThunderWolves open the tournament against Texas Women's University and St. Edward's on the first day. The second day's matchup features the Pack challenging Washburn and reigning Lone Star Conference champion Tarleton State.
Following the Steel & Silver Classic, the ThunderWolves take to the road for three consecutive matches. CSU-Pueblo opens RMAC play Sept. 18 at Western New Mexico, before closing the road trip with contests at New Mexico Higlands, Sept. 19, and Western State, Sept. 22.
The Pack's first weekend of home conference tilts is slated for Sept. 25-26 versus Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines.
CSU-Pueblo will spend the first two weekends of October on the road, facing Chadron State and Regis, Oct. 2 and 3, respectively. The Regis matchup will be a rematch of last season's RMAC Tournament quarterfinals, which saw the Rangers down the ThunderWolves, 3-1. The next weekend, CSU-Pueblo faces defending RMAC regular-season and tournament champion Colorado Mesa, Oct. 9, and Westminster College, Oct. 10.
The ThunderWolves return home Oct. 16-17 to play South Dakota School of Mines and Black Hills State.
The Pack's final regular-season road matches of the season are scheduled for Oct. 23-24 at Colorado Mines and Colorado Christian.
CSU-Pueblo closes its regular-season campaign with five consecutive home matches. The ThunderWolves wrap up October with contests versus Adams State, Oct. 30, and Fort Lewis, Oct. 31. The Pack then welcome UCCS and MSU Denver to Massari Arena for matches Nov. 6 and Nov. 7, respectively. The final regular-season tilt is set for Nov. 14 against Western State.
The 2015 RMAC Volleyball Championships will be held Nov. 17, 20-21.
