Versus St. Edwards University

After struggling in the first match of the day against the Texas Woman's University, the ThunderWolves grinded out a tough five-set victory (28-26, 16-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-13) over the Hilltoppers.

With the victory the Pack improved to 2-4, while the STU dropped to 3-4 after entering the day 3-2.

It was a battle that went both ways, with set alternating wins, starting with a 28-26 Pack advantage to go up 1-0. St. Edwards won the next set comfortably 25-16, but CSU-Pueblo responded strongly, answering with a 25-21 frame three win. The final Hilltopper set win came in the fourth outing, but the Pack weren't phased and clawed their way to a 15-13 fifth set win to come out on top.

Three ThunderWolves surpassed 15 kills, as Oni Lattin (Sr., MB/RS, Houston, Texas) and Mariangel Perez (Jr., OH/RS, Catia La Mar, Venezuela.) tied for a team-high 17, while Caitlin Broadwell (So., OH, Lawrence, Kan.) notched 15.

Alex Sansavera (R-Sr., DS/S, San Antonio, Texas) earned a team-high 29 assists and Elena Michalski (So., S, Longmont, Colo.) pitched in 24 of her own.

For the Hilltoppers, Mikayla Grill charged the way for her squad, firing in 21 kills. Julia Hartley and Avalon Frantz had 22 assists each.

In the first set, each side held their own and were even at 25 all, but the ThunderWolves were able to break through off a kill from Broadwell and seal the frame off a Grill error for the 28-26 victory.

Fast forward to the third game for CSU-Pueblo, thanks to a 5-0 run to take a 13-8 advantage, the lead gave them a big enough cushion for the 25-21 win.

After dropping the fourth set, the ThunderWolves dug down deep and jumped on STU early for a 3-1 lead. The largest deficit for the Hilltoppers in the final set was four trailing 7-3, but they rallied back to eventually to go up 13-12. CSU-Pueblo came back with a haymaker off two kills from Perez to go up 14-13. The final point came off an error from Grill again to give the ThunderWolves the set and victory.
