COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 12, 2015) – For the second time this season, Colorado State University-Pueblo senior middle blocker Oni Lattin (Houston, Texas) has earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, in an announcement from the league office Monday.
Lattin's defense last weekend was nothing short of dominant. The senior collected 16 blocks including a career best 11 rejections in the ThunderWolves' win at Westminster (UT). The 11 blocks helped Lattin to her first career double-double, as she also added 15 kills in the 3-1 win.
Lattin's intimidating presence in the middle helped the Pack win the third set against the Griffins by an impressive 25-6 margin. The six points allowed marks the lowest total allowed by the ThunderWolves since rally scoring was adopted in 2001. The senior from Houston posted five blocks in her match against Colorado Mesa University Friday. All five blocks were solo.
The RMAC honors Lattin with this award for the second time this season. She received the defensive player of the week recognition Sept. 14.
Lattin and the rest of the Pack volleyball team return to Massari Arena Friday, Oct. 16 for their first home match of the month against South Dakota School of Mines. CSU-Pueblo wraps up its homestand when they host Black Hills State University Saturday. Both games this weekend begin at 7 p.m.
