ThunderWolves host Angelo State in 2018 home opener

PUEBLO, Colo. (August 27, 2018) – Colorado state University-Pueblo Volleyball will take the court at Massari Arena for the first time in 10 months when the ThunderWolves clash with Angelo state University Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Pack's 2018 home opener.

Tickets will cost $7 for general admission. All kids 12 & under, seniors, and veterans will receive $6 tickets. CSU-Pueblo faculty who want to cheer on the Pack during their lunch break can also get in for $6. Families of four cost $14.

Pack Notes:

The ThunderWolves went 1-3 in their opening weekend at the Washburn Invitational. CSU-Pueblo beat Southeastern Oklahoma State University in five sets Saturday for their first win of 2018. They lost to Northwest Missouri State University, Washburn University, and Henderson State University.

Sarah Vang (Jr., Parker, Colo.) earned All-Tournament honors at the Washburn Invitational. Vang knocked down 3.43 kills per set for the weekend, fourth-most in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. She also averaged 1.29 digs per set and put down four aces.

Page Heller (Jr., Vancouver, Wash.) had 4.71 digs per set in her first weekend at Libero, six. Her 4.71 digs/set ranks sixth in the RMAC. She collected at least 10 digs in each match during the Washburn Invitational. Heller recorded a career-high 28 digs in the win over the Savage Storm.

Freshmen Berkley Hays (Dallas, Texas and Grace Hern (Omaha, Neb.) each broke out in the Pack's win over the Savage Storm Saturday. Hays had 11 kills, including the match-clinching point. She hit a team-best .278 among regular attacks this weekend. Hays' 2.50 kills/set ranks second on the Pack.

Hern dealt out 30 assists in the win over the Savage Storm. She also had three kills and hit .600 for the weekend.

Fellow setter, Kelsey Bell (Jr., Los Lunas, N.M.) handed out 7.20 assists per set. Bell also averaged 1.70 digs/set in the openings weekend.

Brooke Schilling (So., Platteville, Colo.) earned the Pack's first double-double of the season with 13 kills and 15 digs in the win over the Savage Storm. Schilling's 2.00 kills per set rank third on the Pack, while her 2.36 digs per set are second-most on CSU-Pueblo.

Scouting Angelo State:

The Rambelles went 4-0 over the opening weekend. They are receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll.

Tuesday's match will mark the second time in three years that the Pack has hosted Angelo State in its home opener. The Pack was swept by the Rambelles in their home opener in 2016.
