Inexperience shows at RMAC Championships
GRAND JUNCTION - Bringing the youngest team in the RMAC, the ThunderWolves made strides but struggled at the RMAC Championships in Grand Junction Saturday, finishing 13th as a team.
The Pack was led by Tara Marie Lindsey-Chavez (Fr., Arvada, Colo.), who finished 74th with a time of 25:58 in the 6K run. Finishing directly behind Lindsey-Chavez was Lindsey Herrera (Sr., Pueblo West, Colo.) who had a time of 26:10.
The ThunderWolves, the youngest team in the conference with four freshmen among their top five runners, are just in their fourth year as a program.
"We showed some improvement and made some strides out there," coach Chad Perry said. "Tara ran well, and she was really pushing herself physically and that was a good thing to see. But this meet gave us a good deal of experience as we continue to mature as a team and as a program."
The ThunderWolves will end their cross country season Nov. 8 when they trek to Kearney, Neb. for the North Central Regional Championships.
