Four runners set personal best, Lewis finishes third.
LAS VEGAS, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 23, 2010) - CSU-Pueblo had a very impressive meet Saturday at the New Mexico Highlands Cross Country Jam, as four runners set personal best in the 6K race and sophomore Hayley Lewis (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished third overall.
The meet, which took places on the same course that will be used for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships on Nov. 6, was a fast one for CSU-Pueblo, as Lewis' third place time of 24:10 more than 30 seconds better than her previous personal best in a 6K, turning in a 24:10, the fifth-fastest 6K time in CSU-Pueblo history.
Additionally, two other ThunderWolves finished in the top 10 with PRs - Ali Wolpern (Fr., Montgomery, Minn.) was sixth with a 25:15 mark, and Marissa Garcia (RFr., Littleton, Colo.) was ninth with a 25:58 time.
"We ran well, though we still need to work on our times at the four- and five-hole to get better in the team standings," head coach Chad Perry said. "But this was a great preview for conference for us and we're looking forward to coming back here in two weeks and getting better."
