EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Sept. 16, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo cross country teams competed at the Stegmoller Classic National Preview Saturday, hosted by University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.
The No. 9 ThunderWolves were guided by sophomore Paul Roberts (Boulder, Colo.) on the men's side, as he turned in a fourth place finish in the 8K race with a time of 24:35. The Pack finished fifth in the field of 15 teams with a time of 2:07:20. The ThunderWolves scored 124 points, while the second place and fifth place teams were separated by just 15 points. CSU-Pueblo finished ahead of four NCAA Division I teams.
Junior Marcelo Laguera (Chihuahua, Mexico) ran the course, which will be extended to a 10K at the November NCAA Division II National Championships, in 25:02 to finish 13th. Sophomore Michael Duran (Pueblo, Colo.) posted a personal best time of 25:19 to place 18th.
Senior Miriam Roberts (Boulder, Colo.) and sophomore Gillian Maness (Kalispell, Mont.) paced the Pack women and finished fifth and sixth, respectfully. Roberts ran the 5K in 18:01, while Maness finished in 18:07. The ThunderWolves were ninth of 15 teams with a time of 1:36:46.
Two freshmen were the next to cross the finish line, as Nicole Bouma (Kalispell, Mont.) and Ashley Polk (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished in 19:23 (50th) and 20:20 (81st), respectfully. Junior Allison Hebard (Fairbanks, Alaska) was the fifth scoring member with a time of 20:53 to finish 89th.
