COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (August 20, 2018) - Both the men's and women's Colorado State University-Pueblo cross country programs were picked in the top five of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced Monday by the league office. In addition, three members of the ThunderWolves men's team were named Preseason All-RMAC.
The men's squad was fourth in the poll after gathering 185 points, which was 10 points shy of Western State Colorado University in third. Colorado School of Mines and Adams State University split the 16 available first-place votes, while the Orediggers edged the Grizzlies for first with 218 points to 217 points.
Gathering Preseason All-RMAC accolades were seniors Alec Choury (Westminster, Colo.), Marcelo Laguera (Chihuahua, Mexico) and Derrick Williams (Columbia Falls, Mont.). All three are former All-Americans and look to lead the ThunderWolves to a third straight top 10 finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
On the women's side, the ThunderWolves posted 156 points for fifth. ASU was first with 11 first-place votes and 220 points, while Western collected the final five first-place nods and totaled 208 points. CSM was third with 197 points and University of Colorado Colorado Springs was fourth with 184 points.

Named USTFCCCA All-American after clocking a time of 31:46.5 in the 10K NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships to post a 28th place finish ... Was 30th at the 10K regional race after crossing the finish line in 32:07.52 ... All-RMAC First Team after finishing 11th at the RMAC Championships (8K - 25:40.5) ... Finished 14th at the 32nd Annual Rocky Mountain Shootout with an 8K time of 26:54.1 to help the ThunderWolves win their division.
Named All-American after finishing the 10K NCAA Division II National Championships in 23rd with a time of 31:36.9 ... All-Region after a third-place finish in the 10K race with a time of 30:40.26 ... All-RMAC First Team after finishing third and leading the ThunderWolves to fourth at the RMAC Championships (8K - 25:15.3) ... At the Colorado College Invite, crossed the finish line in 25:10.00 to finish first in the 8K race and guide the ThunderWolves to second ... Finished third twice and was 13th at the Stegemoller Classic National Preview entering the RMAC Championships ... A three-time All-American with a 22nd place finish in 2016 and crossed the line in 25th in 2015.
Did not compete in cross country in 2017 ... All-region and All-RMAC First Team in 2016 ... All-American in 2015 after finishing 14th at his first NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.
